Updated playlist for Article V Scholar Series

Published in Blog on October 09, 2024 by Matt May

The playlist for the most dynamic video series about Article V is growing.

Introduced on Constitution Day this past September, the Article V Scholar Series is a set of short videos that explain the Article V process and answer objections, myths, and outrageous lies from opponents about an Article V convention and even the origin of the Constitution itself.

Two new videos featuring essays by COSA co-founder, senior advisor, and constitutional attorney Michael Farris and senior vice president for legislative affairs and constitutional attorney Rita Peters have recently been added.

The video featuring the article by Peters is subtitled "Demystifying a Dusty Tool" and explores historic documents to demonstrate the intent of the republic's founders in creating Article V and when it should be activated.

In "A Solution as Big as the Problem", Farris identifies four significant problems in the federal government that an Article V convention can solve.

The Article V Scholar Series, produced by COSA Video Production Director Garrett Humbertson, runs through December 3. Each video runs no longer than eight minutes and is perfect for sharing with legislators, fellow volunteers, and people who are new to the movement or interested in joining.

Don't miss this series, which will rapidly help you become even more of an expert about Article V in particular and the Constitution in general.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
