February is here, with an expected surge of grassroots activity and activism in favor of the Convention of States application to call an Article V amendments convention, which has already passed in 19 state legislatures. With 16 additional states currently considering our resolution, the grassroots-led movement is charging ahead at full speed in a race to clinch state number 20.
Two possible candidates for that title emerged this week with the announcement that Iowa and Ohio will both hold legislative hearings on Article V next Tuesday. Convention of States co-founder and leading constitutional attorney Michael Farris is scheduled to testify in the Ohio House Government Oversight Committee on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. ET. Meanwhile, COS Senior Advisor and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum will appear at the hearing in Iowa’s House State Government Committee, slated to begin the same morning at 9:00 a.m. ET. Most importantly, legislators in both states will also hear from their constituents about the rampant grassroots-level support for Convention of States.
