Joe Biden announced his cabinet picks this week, and it looks like he plans to put The Swamp back in charge at the White House (if he gains control of it).
Biden is filling his (potential) cabinet with career politicians, lifelong bureaucrats, and former members of the Obama administration. People like John Kerry, Obama's Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen, and longtime advisor Antony Blinken are promising to return D.C. to "normal." As the American people know, this just means they'll continue pursuing corruption, abuse, and overreach.
When President Trump promised to "drain The Swamp," many Americans cheered his efforts to cut back on regulation and shrink the size of federal bureaucracies. But while he did his best, the changes he imposed weren't permanent. Biden's (proposed) cabinet members will reverse many of President Trump's reforms, and D.C. will continue to be as swampy as ever.
We need a better solution, and this Thanksgiving we should be thankful that the Founders gave us that solution in Article V.
An Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that don't change with each administration. These amendments can force Congress to balance the budget, get rid of career politicians with a term limits mandate, and truly drain The Swamp by permanently limiting the size, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government.
If you're afraid of the changes a (possible) Biden administration will bring, there is hope. The people and the states can join together, call a Convention of States, and make the structural changes to D.C. that no president can undo.
