I presently live in a rural area (yes, on purpose). I also have lived in a number of cities in our nation. My network of friends cross the political spectrum from left to right because of this.
I've noticed many of our differences in opinion are formed by where we live. Rural problems are of little to no concern to city dwellers. Conversely, city problems are of little to no concern to rural areas.
The difference in our local politics is important. Rural areas have politicians that are quite accessible. City councils, county commissioners, and even state legislators are people I personally know, some of them for many years.
When the people who represent us in our government do or consider something we don’t like, our friends in political office hear directly from us. This works well to represent our common rural interests.
While people in the city rightly complain about the problems in their society, they rarely feel like they can do anything about them, because they feel powerless. Most of my city friends do not know their government representatives personally, so they are not comfortable arranging a meeting, making a call, or even writing a letter to any of them.
Lack of input from citizens in cities is what causes government representatives to make errors in judgement about what most of the people they represent actually want. Government representatives of cities have a poor habit of making themselves unavailable too.
I also have city friends who seek out their government representatives. Even those skilled at making themselves unavailable cannot escape these patriotic men and women. If a government official tries to blow them off, they round up our shy city friends who all take part in making their lives miserable until they are heard. This also works well.
Our city and rural advocates need your help to end federal government corruption and tyranny. America is not nearly as divided as some would lead you to believe. Citizens are not weak or ineffective either. We can work out compromise. We can get what we want.
We are a nation who respects the rule of law with citizens being the ultimate government authority. Many of us believe the threat of many petition signatures will make our federal representative take ending corruption in their ranks seriously.
Signing the petition at Convention of States helps us help everyone by offering real incentives to our elected officials to do the right thing or important choices when voting if they do not.
Article V of our U.S. Constitution describes the processes by which amendments are introduced and considered. This can be through our U.S. Congress or by state legislatures.
A Convention of States is merely a meeting where all state legislatures send commissioners to discuss amendment proposals. If a majority of the delegations agree on a proposal, it is then sent back to the state legislatures for ratification. At least 38 states must vote for an amendment to become law.
