The Silent Minute and doing our part

Published in Blog on March 07, 2021 by Tanya Hettler

During World War II, each night when Big Ben would chime at 9:00 p.m., the people of London would stop what they were doing and ask God in prayer, “May thy will be done on earth. Show me how to do my part.”

This reminder of the importance of prayer during crisis seems especially relevant during the current critical time of upheaval in our country and the world. I like the words of the “Silent Minute” prayer too.

The British did not make the presumption that God was on their side. Instead they asked Him to do His will on earth, whatever it may be. And then they followed that up by asking God to show them how they could do their part.

We are all feeling overwhelmed by what is taking place in our country and the world: the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions (especially those related to our schools), all of the executive orders that President Biden is producing, the bills which the legislative branch is attempting to pass regarding gender and elections, and the rules coming out of the Paris Climate Agreement and World Economic Forum. It just goes on and on. It is all so much at once!

But that seems to be the goal. The ruling class is utilizing Cloward and Piven’s technique of “overwhelming the system.” In 1966 this husband and wife team made up of a professor and researcher, both of whom were activists, proposed to bring about a political crisis in the United States to lead to the control of its citizens through socialism.

According to the website Conduit for Action, "the four steps of the Cloward-Piven Strategy are:

  1. Overload and Break the Welfare System
  2. Have Chaos Ensue
  3. Take Control in the Chaos
  4. Implement Socialism and Communism through Government Force.”

Although the specifics are different, this is exactly what is going on today.

The current crisis not only involves the welfare system as Cloward and Piven proposed but also the COVID-19 crisis, the impact of the Paris climate accord and World Economic Forum, radical legislation coming out of Washington, D.C., and racial and social unrest. It is the perfect storm combining to create chaos, so that the ruling class can step in and “solve” the problem.

Our country needs prayer, our world needs prayer, our state and local governments need prayer, our leaders need prayer, and we need prayer. And that prayer should include, “May thy will be done on earth. Show me how to do my part.”

One way that we can do our part is to sign the Convention of States petition at www.conventionofstates.com. This petition states that we want to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution to propose amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
