3. A decade of dedication: Convention of States kicks off Power of 10 challenge

Over the past 10 years, Convention of States grassroots activists have continuously risen to the occasion, always saying 'yes' to every challenge that comes their way. As one, awe-inspiring team, activists in all 50 states have propelled the movement forward while building out the grassroots. We’ve reached new groups and heartened the hopeless with our message and culture.

4. Inspiring: 40k people honor 9/11 first responders

Even in the darkness, there are glimmers of hope—reminders, as Tolkien wrote, that “in the end the Shadow [is] only a small and passing thing: there [is] light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach.”

One such reminder came recently from New York City, where a staggering 40,000 Americans gathered to honor 9/11 first responders at the annual Tunnel to Towers 5K race.

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention.
