The Fight For Our Kids and Schools Has Just Begun

Last year, Glen Youngkin’s stunning victory in his Virginia gubernatorial race against Democrat Terry McAuliffe was widely considered to be a referendum on the current state of schools in America.

It did not have to be that way, but at a time when accounts of shockingly inappropriate “education” permeated our news cycles and the Department of Justice was being weaponized against parents, McAullife made the costly mistake of claiming that he “[didn’t] think parents should be telling schools what they should teach,” and the race inevitably became about education.

In stark contrast to McAuliffe, Republican Youngkin defended his belief that “parents should be in charge of their kids’ education,” and the issue was quickly settled. Voters turned out in droves for Youngkin, not, as the legacy media has suggested, because of white supremacy, but because concerned mothers and fathers truly care about the well-being of their children.

The fact that President Joe Biden, a fellow Democrat who campaigned on behalf of McAuliffe, had easily won the state only a year earlier, seems to suggest that if there is one issue that can truly transcend party lines–that can actually move swing voters–it’s education.

This is not a Republican or Democrat issue; it’s just a fact of life. It doesn’t really matter what they think about climate change or Biden’s tax proposals or any other major political issue; if their children are in danger, most parents will respond, regardless of traditional politics.

And considering the recent onslaught of classroom insanity, this makes perfect sense.

Take, for example, a school survey provided to students as young as twelve, asking shocking questions such as “[h]ow old were you when you had sexual intercourse for the first time?” and “[d]uring your life, with how many people have you had sexual intercourse?”

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated occurrence.

There’s also the horrific incident where a high school student was suspended for reporting that she had been sexually assaulted. And a mother was barred from her son’s public school library after confronting the school over the sexually explicit content contained in some of its books. And a father was arrested for angrily protesting a school’s concealment of the fact that his daughter had been raped in the school bathroom by a boy who was wearing a skirt.

These are not minor grievances secondary to partisan preferences. These are objectively immoral attacks that ought to concern parents of any political background.

Even Critical Race Theory (CRT)–in my opinion–is not as effective at coalescing parents of differing political opinions against the perversities of the modern education system as is the sexual revolution occurring in our schools. Although CRT is certainly despised by many (and ought to be fought wherever it appears), it is still somewhat of a partisan issue, and as such, is limited in its unifying effect.

The dangerous sexualization of our youth, on the other hand, should concern all parents. Whether Republican or Democrat, most instinctively know that children should never be exposed to these things.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that the candidate who chose to malign himself against parents and their ability to object to this sexualized “education” not only lost his election but also lost voters who had traditionally supported his party. His opponent’s victory was, above all, a victory for parental rights.

Indeed, for advocates of family values, it was a major win.

Nevertheless, while a single victory was scored, the fight for America’s kids and schools had not ended. In fact, it had only just begun.

If ever there was a time to get involved, the time is now. One year after the shocking Virginia election results, the nation’s attention is still firmly fixed on the issue of education. And with such a huge amount of momentum going for the movement, now is the perfect time for self-governing parents on both sides of the aisle to stand up and effect positive change in our failing education system.

Speak at school board meetings. Look into becoming a board member. Seek out ways to sway your state board of education or even the National School Boards Association (NSBA). If at all possible, consider taking your own children out of the public schools. Support political leaders who support parental rights.

It’s all worth it.

I truly believe we have a God-given responsibility to protect the minds and innocence of our youth. We simply can not afford to surrender the next generation to the secular corruption of modern “education.” If we do, I fear America will be in a dark place.
