The "experts" in D.C. are liars

Published in Blog on December 28, 2020 by Article V Patriot

Remember at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic when we were told that masks aren't effective at stopping the spread of the virus?

Turns out, that wasn't true. Bureaucrats and doctors like Anthony Fauci told us masks weren't effective because they were afraid of a run on masks. They didn't trust the American people enough to give them the truth, so instead they told them a lie.

Now it's happening again. Dr. Fauci recently told the New York Times that he has been intentionally moving the goal posts for herd immunity according to what he believes the American people are "ready to hear." He initially said it would take 60 percent of Americans taking the COVID-19 vaccine to reach herd immunity, but lately he moved his estimate up to 90 percent:

In the pandemic’s early days, Dr. Fauci tended to cite the same 60 to 70 percent estimate that most experts did. About a month ago, he began saying “70, 75 percent” in television interviews. And last week, in an interview with CNBC News, he said “75, 80, 85 percent” and “75 to 80-plus percent.”

In a telephone interview the next day, Dr. Fauci acknowledged that he had slowly but deliberately been moving the goal posts. He is doing so, he said, partly based on new science, and partly on his gut feeling that the country is finally ready to hear what he really thinks.

Later in the article:

Dr. Fauci said that weeks ago, he had hesitated to publicly raise his estimate because many Americans seemed hesitant about vaccines, which they would need to accept almost universally in order for the country to achieve herd immunity.

Now that some polls are showing that many more Americans are ready, even eager, for vaccines, he said he felt he could deliver the tough message that the return to normal might take longer than anticipated.

“When polls said only about half of all Americans would take a vaccine, I was saying herd immunity would take 70 to 75 percent,” Dr. Fauci said. “Then, when newer surveys said 60 percent or more would take it, I thought, ‘I can nudge this up a bit,’ so I went to 80, 85.”

This isn't serving the American people. This is attempting to manage the American people by lying to them. Our "betters" in D.C. are liars -- pure and simple.

The American people aren't going to take this any more. The politicians and bureaucrats in Washington are there to serve us, and we can force them to get in line with an Article V Convention of States.

A Convention of States is the ultimate way to hold the federal government accountable. It's called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the size, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government -- including the agencies run by "experts" like Dr. Fauci.

Our leaders in D.C. will be much more hesitant to lie to us if We the People can call a Convention of States to limit their power, eliminate their agencies, and reduce their budgets. Dr. Fauci will think twice about deceiving the American people if he's worried about a Convention of States getting rid of his agency and forcing him out of "public service."

Fifteen states have called for a Convention to hold D.C. accountable, and it takes 34 states to hold the Convention. We're introducing the Convention of States Resolution in dozens of states this year, and if 19 pass it, a Convention will be triggered.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
