The "All Clear" to return to normal is never coming

Published in Blog on May 13, 2021 by Shawn Fleetwood

Well over a year ago, we were told to completely halt every aspect of our lives for 15 days in an attempt to "slow the spread" of COVID-19.

But before we knew it, 15 days to slow the spread suddenly turned into 30 days to "flatten the curve", which then turned into a year-plus of forced closures of American small businesses, schools, and livelihoods.

As the goal posts continually shifted, the common narrative coming from our government health "experts" was that a return to normalcy could only be achieved through the development of a vaccine.

Not only has a vaccine been developed, but the CDC just announced that over 100 million Americans have been fully vaccinated.

Additionally, cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have continued to plummet in most parts of the country for months.

Many hope that with such positive trends, the politicians and government bureaucrats who have spent the past year controlling every facet of our lives will finally relinquish their power and provide an "all clear" for the country to return to normal.

But it's time for people to realize that such a moment is never coming.

The tyrants who have stolen the freedom and liberty of the American citizenry have no intention of giving it back.

In fact, any attempt to return to normal will be slow-walked to the greatest extent possible.

We're already seeing this play out in real time, as the CDC and Biden administration recently announced that vaccinated individuals don't have to wear a masks while outdoors, but should still wear one when in crowds and indoor settings.

So, what exactly is the scientific reasoning behind this decision? The simple answer is that there isn't one.

Like so many of the decisions made by our government officials over the past year, virtually none have any foundation in virology or basic science.

Irrespective of how many times lockdowns and mask mandates were proven to be ineffective at stopping the spread of COVID, politicians and bureaucrats have continued to double down and cripple the liberty of the American people.

So this begs the question: what can we do?

Should we focus on local and state politics? Call a Convention of States? Participate in grassroots activism?

The answer is all of the above.

There is no politician or political figure who's going to swoop in and save the day. Taking back our freedom starts with you and me.

Whether it's showing up at your local school board meeting in droves or volunteering with COS to reign in our federal leviathan, grassroots activism has always remained a core tenet of the American way since the American Revolution.

Restoring America's liberty to its people is going to require every patriot in this country to get off the sidelines and get involved. For the future of our nation depends on it.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
