If there were a weekly prize for jaw-dropping, fall-out-of-your-chair statements made by an Ivory Tower college professor, this week’s slam-dunk winner would be Laurence Tribe from Harvard, who recently said, “…a lot of things that are constitutional are stupid.”
Professor Tribe, who teaches at Harvard Law School, made the comment on Fox News Sunday, guest-hosted by Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume as reported in the Daily Caller.
Tribe’s revealing remark about the Constitution emerged during a discussion with Hume on the timing of President Trump’s nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the recent passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
One can only wonder what else in the U.S. Constitution Tribe finds “stupid,” since apparently there is “a lot” to choose from. Maybe he could provide a list so everyone can marvel at the stupidity of the Founders and that problematic document they came up with—you know, the one that changed the course of human history.
The mission of Convention of States Maryland is to empower Maryland residents with the ability to enact change on a national level using the powers granted in Article V of the U.S. Constitution. Would Professor Tribe find that “stupid,” as well?
