Texas stands up to federal mask mandate

Published in Blog on February 24, 2022 by Article V Patriot

After a year of airport and airplane mask mandates in place across the country by the federal government, the Texas state government has had enough and is suing the Biden administration for the ongoing rule.

Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler has been resisting this tyrannical mandate for months, but now the states are starting to step up.

Just weeks into Biden’s presidency, the CDC along with the TSA implemented a mask mandate for transportation hubs, enforceable within federally-regulated systems across the country.

The mandate has caused thousands of issues for airlines with many angry passengers and many videos, some of which have gone viral online. It has also created confusion as to where the line is drawn between local, state and federal governments and how much power each can possess.

Texas, like the majority of other states, has no mask mandate in place on a state level, which makes it difficult to require when on a plane at the federal government’s discretion.

State Attorney General Ken Paxton decided to take action and filed a lawsuit last week over the mandate. The defendants named in the case include the CDC and the Department of Health and Human Services, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, CDC Chief of Staff Sherri Berger, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra and the U.S. government as a whole.

In December, the CDC extended the mandate until March 18, after extending the requirement several times throughout 2021.

So, will the feds ever let go of that mask mandate?

It appears the leaders in Texas don’t think that it will be let go anytime soon. "Two weeks to slow the spread" has turned into "wear a mask for the rest of your life."

It’s clear expiration dates on emergencies and mandates mean nothing if they can be extended in the blink of an eye.

The power struggle between states and the feds is apparent and furthering tensions that have been growing since the pandemic began. It’s been made clear that the federal government will overstep its boundaries to control the masses, and the states are left fighting back against the overreach.

Lawsuits are fine, but Article V is the states' ultimate weapon in this fight. Using Article V of the Constitution, the states can stop the feds from continuing to abuse their powers. The states can call a Convention of States and come together to discuss power restraints, term limits and fiscal responsibility.

Texas is standing up to fight the power-hungry Washington elite, and the Texas legislature has already given its support for a COS resolution. It’s time all the states unite to be the checks and balances that the federal government needs.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
