Take the next step

What’s on your mind?

This default question subtly stares at anyone starting a Facebook post. So what's on my mind these days? I have always had concerns for my country. But since becoming a Convention of States petition signer and volunteer, the country weighs heavier on my mind.

Voting is our constitutional right. It is a first step to having our voices heard, but what do we do when the politicians we vote into office do not represent us as promised and do not vote in our best interests? When that happens, we take a second step.

A second step could be getting in the fight personally by running for a local, state, or national office. However, not everyone is called to take that step. So, what can an average citizen do to take a second step?

We can go back to the beginning and learn about our Constitution and begin to understand the Founding Fathers' original intentions for writing it. Then we can join the Convention of States, a nationwide, grassroots effort to use Article V of our Constitution.

Article V allows the states to call a Convention of States to propose amendments. COS allows states to call a convention to propose constitutional amendments to limit federal spending, debt, regulations, and time in office.

Amendments can also create better checks on the judiciary and restore the Constitution-as-written, rather than the Constitution-as-interpreted by activist judges.

Taking one step alone is not enough anymore. Nothing will change if citizens do nothing. Sign the COS petition at www.conventionofstates.com. Become a volunteer and a Florida team member.
