SURGE IN FLORIDA PANHANDLE CONTINUES…
May 2021 was a busy month for FL House Districts 2,3,4 & 5 Captains.
On May 5th, District 4 Captain, Bridget Carnley presented the Convention of States Project to approximately 60 attendees at the Okaloosa Republican Women’s Federation. The meeting was held at the Wyndham Resort on Okaloosa Island in Ft. Walton Beach.
Florida House Representative, Patt Maney, the President of the Republican Club of Okaloosa County, and Anna Luna, declared candidate in District 13 for US House, were in attendance. Reception of the COS Project was warm and numerous petitions were signed.
The main speaker was Anna Luna, representing House District 13. Her comments and beliefs for the country and Florida echo those of Convention of States Action’s Mission.
Anna's comment, "You can't buy patriotism," struck a deep chord among the attendees. Defending the Constitution and America's freedom is a responsibility none of us can take lightly.
District 3 Captain, Denise Beckham, and Jordan Karr, District 2 Captain, then joined District 4 Captain, Bridget Carnley, and Region Captain, Lynette Miesen, for District 4’s first event held at Helen Back Pizza in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida.
Jorge Rios, the new District 5 Captain, and his wife Sandy joined in the presentation.
There were lots of questions. District Captains were able to answer concerns and objections easily and to the satisfaction of those posing them.
Scanning the QR Code on the back of the COS business card made getting to the website and signing the petition easy for the attendees.
On May 22, Convention of States manned a booth at the 2021 Health & Business Expo in Ft. Walton Beach.
The volunteers, Denise Beckham, DC3, Lynette Miesen, Region Captain, and Bridget Carnley, DC 4, met many expo visitors and had the opportunity to share the COS Mission: build a strong engaged army of self-governing activists. They also shared the Goal: call a convention of states to draft amendments addressing term limits, federal fiscal responsibility, and excessive government overreach.
Lynette Miesen, spoke powerfully with Ken Nielsen, Crestview Community Television about COS. Ken has invited Lynette and the DC 4 Captain for a longer, more in-depth discussion in their studio.
Since Congress is unwilling to make necessary changes, we must pursue the second option where the states are in control of the process.
Panhandle volunteers are getting the message out. Their time and commitment to challenge opposition and educate our legislators makes a difference.
Let's remember that it was the turtle who won the race!
