The pen is mightier than the sword. Remember that saying? It still holds true today, yet I could elaborate and add that the smart phone is "the pen" on steroids.
In so many subtle ways it has crept into our lives as a necessity. Our noses weren't attached to our phones 20 years ago. So what has happened?
The powers-that-be found a way to get their "Penmanship" directly in front of you in record time. What are you allowing into your personal space as a result?
Are your views being desensitized by public opinion you would not have seen other than on your smartphone?
Are you considering buying that purple Frisby that just showed up on a social media ad? Before you do, will you take a moment to consider that you recently discussed playing frisbee at Siesta Key Beach with a friend? Or that a week prior you commented on a purple shirt that you liked?
Will you simply buy the purple frisbee, never once considering that you gave your smartphone and social media platforms permission to spy on you, then sell you your own dreams? (As a side note, read the terms of service on your social media sites, rather than scrolling to the end and accepting).
How many emails are you bombarded with each and every day that you could live without? Hit that unsubscribe button. Take it a step further and turn off email notifications on your phone.
The pen is mightier than the sword. Your pen is being used against you. Get out to see a neighbor, leave the "pen" at home. Find out how the people in your community are doing.
You probably won't have to bring up the problems in our government. Your neighbors may express their concern on their own. Or you could drop a passing comment about term limits, abusive overreach or government spending and get the conversation going that way. All hot topics at the moment!
Ask them if they know of the Convention Of States solution presented in Article V of the Constitution. The enemy doesn't want us to communicate with each other. They know that is how revolution and change come about.
