We at the Convention of States Project often say that the federal government can't fix itself.
But what does this really mean?
In a nutshell, even the most well-intentioned federal officials and politicians can't change D.C. from the inside. They can't work within a corrupt system to fix corruption. They can't change the status quo by following the well-worn path of Washington insiders.
President Trump is a great example. He tried for four years to reduce the size and scope of the federal government, but Joe Biden undid all of those reforms within his first week in office.
We need to limit federal power from outside the Washington beltway. We need a solution that doesn't rely on The Swamp, and we've found it in Article V of the Constitution.
As Steve Deace recently explained on his show, we can't vote our way out of tyranny. An Article V Convention of States can change how D.C. does business, and he called on his listeners to join the only movement powerful enough to limit federal power.
