Steve Deace wasn't always a supporter of the Convention of States movement.
But he changed his mind, as he explained to a raucous crowd gathered at the Iowa state capitol, when he realized the solution to our nation's problems can't be found in Washington.
"The entire damn government is 'run away,' and all they do is run me over!" he said.
Deace believes our country is in the "endgame." We can either allow radical big-government forces to take control of our country, or we can fight back with an Article V Convention of States.
"We are at the end of a football game," he said. "We don't know what a gender is. We don't know what a border is. We don't know what a criminal is. We don't know what a citizen is. Hell, we don't know what a doctor is right now."
"You might be living through the last days of a superpower," Deace went on. "However, we won't be a part of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If that happens, it's because it's a sovereign act of God. Not the laziness of a people that were sovereign and left their citizenship at home."
To those hoping to elect the "right" people to Washington, Deace encouraged the crowd to, instead, take matters into their own hands.
"We can't vote our way out of this. The vast majority of Republicans are useless. We have to take power back ourselves. We can't outsource our citizenship any longer. The answer is us."
"The answer is us. It's time for us to take our power back, to call a Convention of States."
