The South Dakota House of Representatives is on the brink of making history.
Today, February 4, 2025, the House is scheduled to debate and vote upon Senate Joint Resolution 502 -- the COS resolution to call an Article V convention to reduce the power and scope of the federal government.
Should the House vote in favor of the resolution, South Dakota will become the 20th state in the union to pass a COS resolution. The South Dakota Senate approved SJR 502 by a vote of 23-9 on January 21.
Thirty-four states must approve in order to compel Congress to call an Article V convention.
