Socialism is dumb. Local law enforcement proves it

Published in Blog on November 18, 2020 by Grant Williams

According to Webster's, socialism is the "collective governmental ownership of the means of production and distribution of goods."

It's plain to see that throughout history this concept is weak. It does not work, and will especially not work in the United States. Ever. Socialism is laughable.

Among those that somehow support socialism, a common fallacy is that our local police and fire departments are socialist programs. This can be disproven by the deep-rooted American virtue of individualism and the value of an independent, free-thinking local community. Furthermore, local departments aren't even controlled by the state.

The best example is found in an
article from CNN posted in June 2020. Craven County Sherriff Chip Hughes and Sampson County Sherriff Jimmy Thornton openly defied the unconstitutional, impossible enforcement of mask mandates that were not issued via legislation but through executive order based on a narrative fueled by panic and control.

How one positions themselves to these statements is beside the point. The ultimate lesson here is understanding the due process of our government which centers around our individual rights and liberties.

Speaking out against the illegal practices of state government is perfectly legal. The greatest threat to a socialist agenda is that which is ingrained in each American--the freedom of will.

If these sheriffs would have stood up in the same way against the Gestapo of the 1940's Socialist German Workers Party (you know, the actual Nazis), they would have been arrested, ostracised, shot, or merely "disappeared."

None of these things happened because of the protection of due process and the ability to stand up against the government by way of the United States Constitution. Even if it's the local police department. There's nothing freer than a sheriff that can look at the government they work for and say "no."

Our Constitution holds much more weight than the worry of those who might think that this nation is in "danger" of socialism. Socialism is no threat to our individual freedoms. It's the other way around.

Worry not. Stand your ground against the centralized control of government.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
