Sheila Reiland has been volunteering for the Convention of States Project for a little over a year, and she's already making a huge difference in the fight to save future generations.
"When I looked at the debt... the thought of my grandchildren and their children having to pay that debt down for us... it's just unconscionable," she said.
"You can't change things if you don't get involved," she continued. "I had started to get involved in local races. Because of all that background work, it made it easier because I had relationships."
"I've enjoyed talking to the legislators about it. I've gotten my state congressman and senator to support Convention of States after they were initially hesitant."
For those still on the fence about contacting their state legislators about the Convention of States Project, she had this advice.
"Don't be afraid. Go out there, make a phone call, introduce yourself, and you'll find that they are really glad to meet you."
Plus, Convention of States volunteers are "the nicest group of people that I've ever worked with."
