What if your father and mother signed up for a credit card that made you responsible for their debt upon their death? That wouldn't seem fair, and you'd rightly be upset that your parents put you in that position.
But as Ben Shapiro explained on a recent episode of The Ben Shapiro Show, that's exactly what we're doing to future generations with the national debt.
Neither party in Washington is interested in reducing the national debt. Republicans pay lip service to fiscal responsibility, but it's all talk. There's only one way to force Congress' hand: an Article V Convention of States.
A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that mandate fiscal responsibility in D.C. These amendments can force Congress to balance the budget, but a BBA alone isn't enough.
Without spending limits and tax caps, Congress will simply raise taxes to accommodate their out-of-control spending. That's why a Convention of States can also impose provisions that would limit how much money -- and on what topics -- Congress could spend our hard-earned taxpayer dollars.
If we care about the financial security of our children and grandchildren, our path is clear. We have to call a Convention of States now before it's too late.
