September SCW Lunch and Learn Recap

Thanks to all who joined the State Content Writers Lunch and Learn session yesterday, September 17!

We had a substantive conversation about COS subject matter and how to incorporate creative angles and perspective into writing for COS.

We also discussed using survey tools, interaction with supporters, compiling newsletters and maintaining contact with state legislators and their staffs via our writing.

As Jake outlined toward the end of the meeting, next month's call will feature a writing workshop. Be on the lookout for sample sentences from any resource that motivate you or inspire you, bring them to the call, and we will discuss style and how to craft the best prose for your blogs, newsletters, emails, and letters to the editor.

Thanks again for taking time out of your busy schedules to join our Lunch and Learn sessions. We hope to see you again on October 15 at 3:00 p.m. ET for our next call, and we will send a meeting link out as the date approaches.

Sign the petition to call for an Article V convention!

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention.
