South Carolina Senator Bill Taylor has been one of our strongest legislative champions since the founding of Convention of States.
Last week, Sen. Taylor rose in a legislative committee hearing and spoke forcefully in favor of the Convention of States Resolution. He covered lots of ground in his brief, 4-minute address, but at the heart of his remarks, he called on his colleagues to do their duty under the Constitution.
"Washington is bloated and out of control, and we have the right and ability... to put a stop to it. It's the legal and lawful way to go about all of this," he said. "We gave birth to the federal government. We are the parent, and they are the child. It's gotten turned around and upside down, and the federal government is out of control."
"This isn't a red or blue issue... this is a red, white, and blue issue," Rep. Taylor said.
Rep. Taylor's words had the intended effect! The committee passed the Resolution and put South Carolina one step closer to becoming the 18th state to call a Convention of States.
