After a long, hard-fought battle with lung cancer, renowned talk-radio host Rush Limbaugh passed away this week at the age of 70.
Widely considered to be the father of conservative talk radio, Limbaugh single-handedly built the industry from the ground up, paving the way for brilliant intellectuals like Mark Levin and Glenn Beck.
An upstanding patriot, Rush has spent his entire career fighting for the American experiment.
Every day he sat behind the microphone, he never once hesitated to espouse the principles enshrined in our Declaration and Constitution that have made America exceptional.
To him, the ideas of individual freedom and liberty were God-given rights entitled to every American, regardless of race, religion, or creed:
I want anyone who believes in life, liberty, pursuit of happiness to succeed. And I want any force, any person, any element of an overarching Big Government that would stop your success, I want that organization, that element or that person to fail. I want you to succeed.
In his over 30 years on radio, Rush's desire to fight for America and her founding never wavered.
Even throughout his hardest days fighting cancer, his love and passion for his country continued to make its way from his lips to our ears.
And while Rush may be gone, his fight for liberty is not. His life's work will continue on through all of us, as we carry forward his vision for a truly free America.
Whether that's through Convention of States or some other grassroots activism, one thing is for certain: it is our sworn duty as Americans to stand by our principles and defend our Constitution from tyranny.
This is a sentiment Rush not only believed in, but exemplified every day of his life.
I like to consider myself one of millions of "Rush babies," whose philosophical beliefs have been forever shaped by the words of this brilliant man.
His influence spanned generations and will continue to have a lasting impact for decades to come.
While America has sadly lost a beloved patriot, heaven has most definitely gained an angel. God bless you, El Rushbo, and thank you for all that you did.
