On a recent episode of his popular Texas talk radio show, Rick Roberts asked a question millions of Americans are asking themselves today: "How do you regain control of a government that is so out of control?"
Right now, the American people have two options: they can trust Congress or they can trust the states and the people.
Congress has shown itself totally unwilling to rein in their own power and spending. Whether under Democratic or Republican control, the "people's representatives" have done anything but represent the best interests of We the People.
They live in Washington for decades, getting rich on the backs of American taxpayers, and getting reelected year after year after year.
As Rick Roberts explains, term limits is a key to getting a government of, by, and for the people.
"We've got to have term limits if we're going to get any control at any time. I don't see any other way to hold this government accountable," he said. "You've got to say to them, you're our employee. It doesn't work the other way around."
So, what's the solution? Congress will never vote to term limit itself. That's why, as a caller to Roberts' show explained, we need to call the first-ever Article V Convention of States.
"We've got to do something to take back control of the government, and if not [a Convention of States], what?" Roberts asked.
A Convention of States is called by the states (not Congress) under Article V of the Constitution and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can limit federal power, control federal spending, and impose term limits on all members of Congress.
If we want a government we're proud to pass down to our children and grandchildren, we must take a stand. And we can do so legally, safely, and effectively with an Article V Convention of States.
