There has been quite a lot of hubbub in the media lately about an agenda for the incoming President. Known by most only as ‘Project 2025’ or ‘Project 25’, this agenda is ruffling feathers and sparking anxiety among many who report the news and the masses who consume it. Convention of States does not have any position or endorsement for this published agenda. Though the Project does have actions that reflect much of what we are looking to accomplish through term limits, fiscal restraint and a balanced budget, it is not our own to propose or implement as an organization.
Being that it is a conservative agenda and our District Captains have been fielding inquiries about it lately, we feel it is necessary to provide a brief description and links to where more information can be found in an effort to dispel any assumptions from our volunteers and petition signers.
So what is it exactly?
Project 2025, the Presidential Transition Project is a proposed agenda developed by The Heritage Foundation for consideration by the next conservative President, whoever it may be, and is not intended to be carried into the November election by a candidate. Hundreds of conservative policy experts stood at the drawing board and formed advisory panels to create this agenda and there are a good number of them who do support a Convention of States.
From the Project 2025 'About' page..
"Project 2025’s policy book is nothing new. Mandate for Leadership has been published regularly since the 1980s. In it, respected conservative authors espouse conservative policy ideas for incoming administrations to consider. Progressive organizations do the same thing"
This agenda may resonate for the better or for the worse depending not only on where one stands from the two political sides of the aisle but also from where one stands on the spectrum of democratic governance overall. This includes one's preferences for where federal government should have a greater or limited role when serving the people of our Constitutional Republic.
Former President and 2024 Candidate, Donald J. Trump has repeatedly stated that he has not read the agenda and counters any assumptions with his own, named Agenda 47.
Volunteers who are asked by interested parties while at their event booths or while just standing in line at the grocery store should have this minimal understanding and be able to direct someone to sources of additional information, if necessary.
