Political Passion Alive and Well

Published in Blog on October 17, 2021 by Dakota Windancer

The American literature professor, Joseph Campbell, whose work covered many aspects of the human experience, more than once stated, "The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are."

The privilege provided by the Collier County Republican Executive Committee Meeting held Oct. 4th in Naples, Fla. did not disappoint in terms of authenticity, contention, and passionate sharing's of political perspectives.

Heated passion began while trying to decide whether the discussion of item 11, a Convention of States, should be included in the agenda.

Byron Lowell Donalds, Representative for Florida's 19th district, was in attendance. His district serves most of the heart of Southwest Florida, including Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and Naples.

Approximately 200 concerned members and citizenry were in attendance and many motions were proposed and carried.

It was moved and voted on that item 11, Convention of States be removed from the agenda. This is a win for COS, and all of her volunteers as the opposition had no traction to rescind the application.

I felt a swelling pride raising within my heart, and throat while I listened to the utter sincerity, and authentic concerns expressed so articulately and passionately by several members.

Perspectives are of course a very relative element for interpreting reality and hold the risk of being flawed. However, here goes mine...

Last night's meeting held abundant gold for my wife and I. We were moved by the strength and power of the Committee board members for holding the chairman accountable to following the necessary protocols that keep meetings on point, and more importantly safe for all members in equal sharing.

It was apparent to me that the women of the board were invested in the issues, ailments and solutions, while the men wrestled with personality conflicts.

There was ample time given for various candidates to speak and explain their positions on various topics. Decorum took residence during this section of the meeting and the Candidates rendered good account of themselves.

I find it difficult to end my article without saying how proud it makes me feel to see passion for American ideals  expressed so well by by my Floridian brothers and sisters. I am surrounded by formidable folk who exhibit knowledge, power, and passion and I count myself fortunate to be a part of that shining citizenry!

Would you like to re-ignite a purpose of adventure and new passion?

Convention of States can point you to places that will change your life and change your destiny... It is still doing that for me on a weekly basis since becoming a volunteer.
