Many state legislators do not realize that they have the power to fix the problems in our nation's capital.
Article V empowers them to place real, constitutional limits on the federal government, and Pennsylvania Rep. Matt Gabler outlined this awesome responsibility to his colleagues at a recent committee hearing.
"Sometimes I get questions from constituents, who ask, 'What are you going to do to fix that mess in Washington?' Usually, my response is, 'I work in Harrisburg, so there's a limit there.'"
"But the Framers of our Constitution were very smart. They included language in Article V of the U.S. Constitution that said that state legislators have the power to have a conversation about how to strengthen the limits on federal power."
