Overreach Hits Home

Published in Blog on July 06, 2021 by Deborah Efurd

In early 2019, my husband and I started a small business with vacation rentals on our farm. We hit the start button and got our first booking. Then the pandemic hysteria hit and everyone wanted to get out of the city and flee to the country. We were pleased with the success of our venture and the relationship we had with our service provider – until this week.

I received an inquiry for one of our rentals for the 4th of July weekend asking if we offer military discounts. A young man was being deployed to the Middle East and was visiting his girlfriend and family, needing a place to stay. Our servicemen and women are near and dear to my heart, so I made him the offer. Unfortunately, the service provider didn’t see things the way I did.

When trying to book the rental, the provider refused the service man’s booking saying he had no history with them or any reviews. When I called the provider, they explained it was a new policy not to rent to anyone for fear they may be having a party and tear up the property over a holiday weekend. I told them in no uncertain terms that I was comfortable with the guests: this young man was being deployed in service of our country, and I owned the property, not them. They still refused to waive their policy. So, I took matters into my own hands and took the property off the market so I could rent the house directly to this Army private.

I see this experience as a perfect example of overreach. Although it’s a private company, not the government, it’s still overreaching. Sooner or later, the madness of bureaucracies creeping into our personal freedoms and property will hit us all. We read reports daily where government agencies create rules that attack our religious liberties, where we go to the restroom, what our children are indoctrinated with, re-zoning, landowners being forced to allow access to government providers, what and where we make our purchases, as well as production of food, fuel, and natural resources. The list is endless and growing every minute of every day.

Former acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell stated on Fox News recently (July 3, 2021):

“I've been very worried over the last year that we have too many Americans that are just falling prey to government directives. That's not what America is about. We're not supposed to be told to stay in our homes and lock our doors and not go out. Look, the warnings about health practices and COVID, they're all good, but they're warnings. They shouldn't be mandates. I pray daily that we American's start standing up and pushing back."

Unsuspecting, propagandized, unaware patriotic taxpayers that allow their government to dictate their behavior are the people that fall prey to totalitarianism and fascism. They'll wake up one day and go from feeling in control of their lives to their lives being controlled. It has happened literally overnight in areas of the World. But of course, never in America!

One of my strongest concerns is the lack of common sense and a burning desire for the truth. Who are these people in Washington, DC, Corporate America, State Government, the media, nationally, locally, and underground, that think they know what is best for We The People?

We've got to push back! If you believe in what someone is saying a simple Amen can show your support. Many of you will be on Facebook, Twitter, or other social media platforms doing what you do.

We just celebrated July 4th with our families, friends and perhaps making some new friends, celebrating our freedoms,  independence, and self-governance. Conversations most likely turned to politics and opinions were exchanged. But that's about as far as it went. Will you take action on what was discussed and what you believe in? Will you support those that you share those common views regarding our children, family, and friends? Will you support those most precious people, will you fearlessly speak out to make your beliefs known, and perhaps enlighten others?

The insanity being propagandized today is not new. Those in power that "talk that talk" but never "walk the walk" will try to take every freedom We the People were guaranteed through the Constitution.

The time for an Article V Convention of States is now, folks. Run, don’t walk, sign the Convention of States Petition, and volunteer today. Momentum is growing across our great nation as a growing army of self-governing citizens advances to our 1st Convention of States. Come join us.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
