Is she out of touch, a liar, or both?
Americans are wondering this week whether New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez really doesn't believe in the massive spate of organized retail theft or if she's trying to protect the radical ideology of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Either way, Ocasio-Cortez got egg on her face during an interview with the Washington Times.
"A lot of these allegations of organized retail theft are not actually panning out," she said. "I believe it’s a Walgreens in California who cited it, but the data didn’t back it up."
This is, of course, ridiculous.
Video after video has emerged in recent weeks of smash-and-grab robberies taking place in major cities across the United States. Even the Washington Post admits that "'Flash mob' robberies are roiling U.S. retailers and traumatizing workers."
These gangs of thugs have hit stores as varied as Nordstrom, Best Buy, Louis Vuitton, and Home Depot. They've stolen hundreds of millions of dollars in goods, and one security guard was killed during a recent incident.
AOC has the luxury of not being anywhere near the violence. She's safe and secure, surrounded by armed guards, locked gates, and the ivory walls of the Capitol.
Meanwhile, average Americans are suffering. They're suffering under the big-government policies that have spurred inflation and led to supply chain shortages. And they're suffering under the leftist ideology that refuses to prosecute criminals and allows violent felons to walk the streets.
Our federal officials are out of touch. Worse, they're in thrall to ideologies that damage our country and harm our most vulnerable citizens.
Enough is enough. It's time to send a message to AOC and other big-government politicians: We the People are in charge.
We can try to vote them out of office, but we've been doing that for decades. It hasn't worked. Instead, we must hit them where it hurts the most, and strip them of their power, their money, and their careers in office.
An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can fall into three categories:
- Amendments that limit federal power and jurisdiction
- Amendments that impose fiscal restraints on Congress
- Amendments that limit the terms of office for federal officials
With these amendments in place, federal politicians will have no choice but to wake up and attend to the will of their constituents. They'll be forced back into reality and no longer be able to live in a utopia of their own making. Most importantly, We the People will be in charge of domestic policy as decision-making power reverts to the state level.
