Saturday marked the 228th anniversary of the ratification of the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
Sometimes it seems like constitutional amendments are a thing of the past -- we used to be able to modify our founding document as the Founders intended, but that can't happen in 2018.
Think again.
The 27th Amendment was ratified in 1992, and its history is one of our country's most fascinating stories. It proves that the American people can have a real voice in the amending process, and if enough people get behind a movement, they can change the country.
In the video below, political analyst and Convention of States supporter Gregory Watson explains how he launched the unlikely ratification of the most recent amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
L-R: Gregory Watson, Tom Dowdy (TX CD), Martin Harry (TX LL), Stephanie Klick (TX State Rep. HD 91), Paul Hodson (TX Co-SD), Tamara Colbert (TX Co-SD).
