It would be hard to rate the many top-down, patronizing, central planning moves of the Obama Administration that infuriated freedom-loving, none-of-your-business middle class suburbanites.
But right at the top of the list would have to be the imposition of rules tying HUD block grant infrastructure money to zoning requirements that made suburbs bow to the central planners, inserting high rise, low income housing right in the middle of their single family neighborhoods.
Most suburbanites weren’t even aware of these rules until it was too late.
And wow, were they mad.
Trump ended those Soviet-style rules, to massive relief by suburbia. Biden has reinstated them, doubling down, it appears.
You can find an excellent expose’ in this AMAC article.
Could the Founders have possibly imagined the Constitution would be so bastardized as to allow D.C. bureaucrats to micromanage a suburban neighborhood thousands of miles away from them?
That an entire Cabinet level department (HUD) with a $50 billion budget would be created to tell Americans how and where to live?
Only a Convention of States can solve this problem, by ending the Swamp’s ability to impose such rules.
