Fired up COS Virginia volunteers spent a portion of their Independence Day at the Leadership Institute's annual Soiree at Occoquan Regional Park, educating Patriots that the time is now to call a Convention of States.
The Leadership Institute, based in Arlington, Virginia, is led by Morton Blackwell, who endorses Convention of States. (Scroll down this page to see the list of COS endorsers.)
Our COS table, along with tables from other patriotic organizations, was at the entrance where attendees saw all the action.
About 13 volunteers enthusiastically kept busy at this four hour event (11 am-3 pm) speaking to hundreds of attendees at the annual picnic.
COS Virginia's State Director John Dahmen (after an introduction by Morton Blackwell) spoke to a crowd of over 1100 attendees about how we can use the Constitution to protect the Constitution.
That drove more passionate conservatives wanting to save our country to our table.
Over 150 petitions were collected at the event. Some decided to become volunteers.
Especially exciting was the amount of young people who enthusiastically signed on.
After all, they are stuck with the massive national debt and tyranny threatening their future.
You, too, can sign the petition. Copies of your petition are then forwarded to your state legislators to let them know you want them to use their unique role to call a Convention of States to reign in federal tyranny.

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.
What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.
I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.
I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here:

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:

Thank you so much for your service to the people of our district.
