On December 5 the Convention of States North Carolina leadership team hosted a volunteer celebration at the Hero's Center near Greensboro with record attendance.
State Director Joy Ruhmann and her core leaders poured their hearts and souls into an event that would prove once again that the movement is well-organized and poised to be highly effective in 2021.
The day not only proved that North Carolina is full-speed ahead in their initiatives for the state legislature to pass a resolution through the North Carolina House of Representatives, but it was jammed packed with inspirational highlights and current successes regarding North Carolina's progress.
There was constructive vision casting through consensus on how the state can continue to build the largest grassroots army this country has ever seen through promoting the COS petition, as well as volunteer engagement.
Also in attendance were Regional Director Grant Martin and COS President Mark Meckler. Their relentless passion for a Convention of States is evident in not only their words but through the authenticity of their character.
Anybody that was at the meeting would say their words of wisdom and insight were both motivating and very appreciated. Their speeches provided so much insight, and this State Content Writer is looking forward to posting more articles from just this meeting alone.
The agenda also included an engaging "1776 Moment" from our very own Joseph Holyoak, who gave a fantastic presentation on Patrick Henry. Even beyond his famous "Give me liberty, or give me death" speech, Joseph was able to open our minds to the idea that someone so normal was able to cause such a ruckus through word of mouth.
Simply saying things that are contrary to the hyper-authoritative status quo can move mountains. Thank you, Joseph, for such an excellent reminder of how empowered We the People really are.
Two Challenge Coins were awarded to North Carolinian volunteers during the event. The COS Challenge Coin is a high honor, with only 300 in existence. Wayne Stanley completed a stunning 2,803 calls between the campaign and get out the vote initiatives.
Jane Cookson of Wilmington was awarded a Challenge Coin for her hard work, dedication, and resolve for diversity in thought. Thinking outside the box is an imperative among our grassroots organizational structure. The Convention of States North Carolina team couldn't be more proud to have such awesome volunteers and coordinators in the group.
Former North Carolina state legislator Mike Hagar provided some thrilling information regarding the positioning of the General Assembly for the Convention of States resolution in 2021. He announced that our ally Representative John Bell will sit as the Majority Leader. This exciting news bodes well for the strongest support yet to get our Article V resolution on the floor for a vote.
This is a very exciting time for North Carolina, and it may be the most important time to get involved. Sign up to volunteer here.
During the consensus workshop, volunteers were split into groups to brainstorm ideas for acquiring more petition signatures in North Carolina, as well as identifying ways to engage inactive volunteers to motivate and encourage them to take action. Dozens of great ideas surfaced and were categorized based on function and goals.
This year's Volunteer Celebration at the Hero Center in High Point North Carolina offers a building across the walkway with a capacity for 500-people. It was mentioned that this time next year, that would be the ideal place and attendee number for the Convention of State North Carolina movement to aim for.
Volunteer in North Carolina, today!
