No shoes, no vax, no service!

Published in Blog on April 19, 2021 by James Russell Orr

Can you imagine being refused access/service to a local Arkansas business, because you decided against getting a COVID vaccination?

You might think that’s not a plausible scenario. But according to The Washington Examiner, some residents of the Caribbean’s St. Vincent were recently fleeing their homes because of a volcanic eruption, and these residents were refused entry to “neighboring countries offering refuge unless they [produced] proof showing that they [were] fully vaccinated against COVID-19.”

The U.S. government “will not run or oversee a centralized, universal immunization database,” reports The Washington Examiner. Indeed, Senator Boozman has stated in a letter to his constituents that he opposes a federal mandate. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette has reported that Senator Boozman would prefer that these issues be managed by individual states.

But the potential power that a government could impose with a vaccine passport--whether mandated at the federal level or at the state level--is massive!

The issue of vaccine passports will be intensely discussed over the next several months. It's not going away.

CNN is reporting that nearly 40% of U.S. Marines have refused the COVID vaccine. The military cannot mandate the vaccine at this time, because the COVID vaccine has only “emergency use authorizations from the Food and Drug Administration.”

However, this same CNN article is reporting that seven Democrat lawmakers have petitioned the White House asking that a "waiver of informed consent" be issued to mandate vaccination for U.S. military service members.

Ironically, some Democrats who seem concerned about our military getting forced vaccinations don’t seem concerned enough to test illegal immigrants being released into the general public.

Fox News is reporting that House Democrats blocked a bill by Congresswoman Marianette Miller-Meeks that would have “required illegal immigrants released into the U.S. to receive a negative COVID-19 test.”

The New York Post is reporting that US Customs and Border Protection released about 2,000 migrants from the Del Rio Facility (Texas) in February and March, all without a negative COVID test.

New York State has already implemented a volunteer COVID passport system called Excelsior according to New York NBC Channel 4. The New York Post is reporting that Hawaii and Illinois are also exploring the use of vaccine passports, while a “slew of states—including Florida, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, Missouri, and Nebraska—have already expressed fierce opposition to any use of vaccine passports within their borders.”

Yes, there is pushback. The Washington Times is reporting that House Republicans have proposed a bill to “ban the federal government from issuing documentation that could be used to prove a person has been inoculated against COVID-19.”

Senator Tom Cotton sent a tweet from his verified Twitter account asking if there is “anything more Orwellian than a vaccine passport that Americans would need to travel within America?”

Likewise, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted that a vaccine passport could control a citizen's ability to buy and sell, and she referred to these proposed passports as “Biden’s Mark of the Beast.”

The controversy surrounding vaccination passports is non-partisan. Naomi Wolf, CEO of DailyClout! and a professed Democrat, has a passionate video posted on Facebook concerning vaccine passports.

She claims that her concerns are “probably the most serious warning [she has] ever given” (0:53). She refers to the vaccine passports as the “most dangerous tool that humanity has faced in [her] lifetime--if not ever--in terms of human liberty” (2:13).

Ms. Wolf believes that these proposed passports could be used to prevent people from having access to goods and services. If you don’t have the vaccine passport, then you could be refused entry to stores.

However, she also has concerns that the vaccine passports provide enhanced government overreach. If your social media posts are viewed unfavorably by the government, then your passport could be deactivated as punitive punishment (3:43).

At a time where we see so much big tech censorship, this concern does not seem far-fetched.

We need politicians who will stand up for our rights. However, career politicians are much more concerned about their political power and wealth than they are about looking out for the best interest of their constituents.

We need term limits, and Article V provides the only realistic path to term limits. Sign the Convention of States petition and get involved.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
