NH's December meetings are running full steam ahead!

Published in Blog on December 29, 2022 by Carol Petrusewicz

December 6th, District Captain Bob Hansen paved the way by sharing the 17 enumerated powers outlined in Article 1 Section 8 of the US Constitution. Is Congress following these enumerated powers?

On December 8th, District Captain Carol Petrusewicz answered some questions about Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.  How did he feel about using Article V? For sure we know that he did not like a Constitutional Convention. Read his insights here.  Ok, but then we needed to clarify how he felt about about a Convention of States.

Of course understanding his view point led us to discussing the difference between a Constitutional Convention and a Convention of States.  Learn about that here.

Another great question that arose was, "If Congress does not follow the Constitution now, why would they follow any amendment that we propose and hopefully ratify?"  Great question!  Constitutional scholar Michael Farris  responds nicely to this question in this article in point number seven. Michael Farris, JD, LLM shares,

Our government is operating in substantial compliance with the Constitution as interpreted by the Supreme Court.

We jumped around a bit as questions skyrocketed!

Why do we need the three topics set forth in our Resolution: fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and term limits on Congress and federal officials. Why not just one topic? To learn those details click here.

Choo, Choo! 2022 is ending on a bang with the December 28th meeting!

Washington decided to give us their Christmas present. Here is Rep Chip Roy shining the light on the reality of the situation.

So we have some good Representatives like Chip Roy working from the inside, and you and I working in self governance on the outside- there is hope!

What can we do when we try to share the Constitutional right to call for an Article V convention and meet opposition?
