COS New York team back to work in Kingston

The last weekend in July, the Convention of States New York team headed out to Kingston, New York, for a SafeShoot Gun & Knife Show.

It was refreshing to finally get out of the city for those of us from Staten Island. Of course, social distancing and masks were encouraged for everyone’s safety.

Our table was expertly set up by Silver Dreaming Wolf, Co-Director. We had plenty of petitions to sign and lots of COS literature to distribute. The Convention of States YouTube channel streamed continuously for everyone to watch.



It was wonderful to meet some of our newest team members in person, and they got to see firsthand how an event is set up. Sebastien drove up all the way from Brooklyn to meet us. Jose and Jim also took some time to meet our team.

We all enjoyed a lovely dinner in a local restaurant at the end of the day on Saturday. The conversation was so engaging that I forgot to take pictures.

On Sunday, it was more of the same. The crowd was very receptive to the idea of a limited Article V convention. We collected over 100 petition signatures. Success in Kingston!

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention.
