Nancy Pelosi: "No" regrets about downplaying coronarivus threat

Published in Blog on July 16, 2020 by Article V Patriot

Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi doesn't have any regrets about her statements in the early days of the COVID-19 crisis.

Even though she encouraged people to visit San Francisco's Chinatown late into February, she insisted during a recent interview that the Trump Administration made all the mistakes.

CNN host Dana Bash recalled that Pelosi said on February 29 that "there are no indications of widespread infections in the United States." When asked whether she regretted her comments, Pelosi refused to admit fault:

"No, what we did was at that exact time was writing the first COVID bill, which we brought to the floor and passed on March 4, and it was about testing, testing, testing," she said. "Because if you don’t test you don’t have a handle on what the problem is."

The truth is, most politicians got it wrong in the early days of the pandemic. No one knew how the situation would play out. But Pelosi's comments still put people in danger, and her unwillingness to admit her mistake proves what the American people already know: the "elite" in D.C. care more about avoiding blame than doing what's right.

Ever since the first American died from the COVID-19 virus, our federal officials have been obsessed with shifting blame. Pelosi did exactly that in her interview on CNN. When asked again whether she had any regrets, Pelosi moved the conservation to President Trump.

"No, not at all. We had had four bills, all bipartisan, but they have not been implemented by the administration," she said. "And no, we said testing from March 4. We were writing the bill to find out what the threat was to us while the president was saying delay, denial, calling it a hoax, and causing deaths.”

Our "leaders" in D.C. have always been corrupt and incompetent, but the coronavirus pandemic has brought that corruption and incompetence to light. They couldn't save us from the pandemic, and even now politicians on both sides of the aisle refuse to admit their mistakes.

And yet, year after year, they increase their power, their jurisdiction, and their sway over the daily lives of the American people.

It's time for a change. The federal government has enjoyed complete control of our country for long enough. The people must reassert their power, and a Convention of States is the best way to do that.

An Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that strip Washington of its power and return that power to the states and the people. Millions of Americans have voiced their support and 15 states are on board. Click here for more information, and when you're ready, voice your support by signing the petition below.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
