This is why we still have faith in the patriotism and statesmanship of our state representatives.
Montana State Senator David Howard gave an impassioned speech to his colleagues calling on them to join the effort to call the first-ever Convention of States. He asked a simple question: why should we trust Congress to get our nation back on track when they obviously don't care about us?
"Does Congress even represent us any more?" he asked. "I would submit they don't. I don't even think they know we're here."
There's only one solution to Congress' abuse and negligence: an Article V Convention of States. A Convention of States has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of federal power. These amendments can also impose fiscal restraints on Congress and limit the terms of office for federal officials.
Congress may not think We the People can threaten their stranglehold on our country, but we know the truth. A Convention of States can remind them who they work for, and force them to represent We the People rather than their own political ambitions.
