Gov. Ron DeSantis minced no words describing the soft-on-crime, George Soros-backed prosecutor who reportedly may arrest former President Donald Trump over what DeSantis called a “manufactured circus.”
Late last week, Mr. Trump announced he believed he would be locked up on Tuesday in connection with an ongoing investigation into his hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels, a porn star with whom Trump allegedly had an affair in 2006. The District Attorney behind the investigation, Alvin Bragg, has been criticized for politicizing the case, which many see as an extension of the multi-year witch hunt against the former president and 2024 presidential candidate.
On Monday, Gov. DeSantis joined the public disapproval, bashing Bragg (who The Washington Post reports received money from George Soros during his 2021 campaign) for his politically-motivated prosecution.
“I’ve seen rumors swirl. I have not seen any facts yet,” DeSantis explained. “And so I don’t know what’s going to happen. But I do know this, the Manhattan district attorney, is a Soros-funded prosecutor. And so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety. He has downgraded over 50% of the felonies to misdemeanors. He says he doesn’t want to even have jail time for the vast, vast majority of crimes. And what we’ve seen in Manhattan, is we’ve seen the crime rate go up, and we’ve seen citizens become less safe.”
He pointed out that “the real victims are ordinary New Yorkers, ordinary Americans” who suffer in soft-on-crimes cities while the government chases after politically-profitable indictments.
“They ignore crime, and they empower criminals…. And that hurts a lot of people every single day.”
“These Soros district attorneys are a menace to society,” the governor continued, “and I’m just glad that I’m the only governor in the country that’s actually removed one from office during my tenure.”
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issues a strong statement against the Soros-backed DA pursuing charges against Donald Trump in what is clearly a politically motivated attack. This is class.

As the nation holds its breath, waiting to see how the Trump-Daniels case will unfold, one thing is clear: the level of partisanship in our government systems of justice today is simply unsustainable. The American people’s collective frustration is understandably high. They fear we now live in a nation that persecutes political opponents.
Thankfully, we know the peaceful solution to getting our government back on track. With an Article V Convention we can restore proper balance to the American system of governance and defuse the bitter tensions.
