Florida District Captain Kay McQueen has been with COS since 2019, continually inventing new ways to educate friends and neighbors about Article V of the Constitution. She helps people see remedies for unelected officials who usurp power, will never give up control, and spend our tax dollars recklessly.
An ongoing challenge for COS team leaders is the natural ebb and flow of volunteers. District Captai, Kay MacQueen and ally Barb Cox (Telepatriot, Follow Up, District Captain Teams) have nurtured their volunteers into a small but now effective team.
Kay and her team live in Central Florida House District 32 which runs from Leesburg in the north to almost Four Corners in the south.
Nettie Rose of Leesburg, with Kay and Barb, diligently practices the art of being an engaged citizen and team member. Kay also shares special recognition and thanks for two Veterans on the team, Ernest Alcantara and Gator Gray.
Kay recently fired up her grassroots army and set a mission to get out of the house and talk to more nearby residents about Convention of States.
Gathering up courage, determination and a few handouts, the team participated in a local neighborhood festival called the Sips and Salsa at Minneola Park.
They must have been quite convincing to the approximately 50 people they spoke with because they earned 30 signed petitions! Everyone wanted to know about the project and agreed to send their legislators a message. It was so exciting and rewarding to sign up new Patriots.
This is not Kay’s first attempt at spreading enthusiasm for the COS agenda. To read more about her team, their methods, projects, and other groups they have met with see the story about how Facebook Jail propelled her to action.
As a former biology teacher and lifelong educator, Kay’s motivation and inspiration come from James Madison who, she says, “still makes sense today.”
Her favorite Madison quote is, “Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and the people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.”
Knowledge comes from Convention of States. COS offers not only pages to read and videos to watch, but also the inspired community of informed and engaged citizens fostering the survival of the Republic.
Teams like Kay’s in HD32 exist all over Florida. Reach out, connect, and get to work with the COS patriots near you!
