Last month, I pointed out that California Governor Gavin Newsom’s lawn mower ban would hurt the very people the “elites” in our society claim to care about.
Forcing Americans and small business owners to transition from gas-powered engines to electric engines will cause financial hardship for millions of impoverished Americans and close the doors of hundreds of locally owned businesses.
Today, I have yet another example of the callousness of our “betters” in D.C.
News broke this week that Saule Omarova, President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, said earlier this year that she wants to bankrupt oil and gas companies.
She didn’t make these statements on a hot mic or a hidden recorder. She said this out loud, in a public forum.
“Here what I’m thinking about is primarily coal industry and oil and gas industry. A lot of the smaller players in that industry are going to probably go bankrupt in short order, at least we want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change,” she said.

Most Americans intuitively understand that bankrupting oil and gas companies would make their lives more difficult. Elitists, on the other hand, are either totally clueless or willfully tyrannical because they can afford to transition from oil to renewable energy “in short order,” as Omarova puts it.
But what about the rest of us?
Here in Texas, we experienced the weaknesses of renewable energy sources last winter, when a winter storm knocked out power for millions of Texans. Wind turbines and solar panels don’t work so well during a storm, and 111 Texans died as a result.
The vast majority of those Texans lived in low-income areas of the state.
Those Americans won’t be able to afford transitioning from gas and coal to renewable energy any time soon. According to the Institute for Energy Research, it would cost each American household an average of $2,000 per year through 2040 if the U.S. transitioned to a 100% renewable energy system.
Do low-income Americans have an extra $2,000 lying around? Biden-flation is making even the most basic goods and services more expensive—not just for the “wealthy” but for all Americans. Higher gas prices are increasing commuting costs for people who can’t afford it, and continuing government-mandated COVID restrictions are making it difficult for Americans to get back to work.
So, no, low-income Americans do not have an extra $2,000 lying around.
Big-government elites like Omarova think they know what’s best for the nation and for the world. They’re willing to sacrifice anything, even those people they claim to care about, to achieve their utopian vision.
There's only one surefire way to put the Washington "elites" back in their place: an Article V Convention of States. A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government. Taken together, these amendments will get the feds out of our daily lives and put We the People back in control of our country's future.
