Meckler: Is Maxine Waters the slimiest Swamp Monster in Washington?

Published in Blog on February 02, 2022 by Article V Patriot

When it comes to Swamp Monsters, it’s hard to compete characters like Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, or Nancy Pelosi.

But if anyone can do it, it’s Maxine Waters. The career politician from California has been airlifting money to her friends and family for decades, and a recent Fox News report begins to plumb the depths of her corruption.

Since 2003, Karen Waters, Maxine’s daughter, has received over $1 million in payments from her mother to her and her company, Progressive Connections, for campaign-related services.

Karen isn’t the first Waters to benefit from Maxine’s position. In 2004, the Los Angeles Times revealed that the Waters campaign had shelled out over $1 million to other family members over the previous eight years.

Here’s the real kicker. Waters heads the House Financial Services Committee, which deals with our country’s financial topics ranging from banking to insurance to housing.

In other words, one of the politicians supposedly responsible for weeding out corruption in our country’s financial sector is herself using her position to enrich members of her own family.

Waters is slimy both with her money and with her public platform. She’s obviously one of the craziest members of Congress, and she’s constantly making baseless, inflammatory statements that have no doubt incited violence.

In 2018, Waters called on her supporters to publicly harass and intimidate members of the Trump administration.

“The American people have put up with this president long enough,” she said. “If you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. You push back on them. And you tell them they are not welcome, anymore, anywhere.”

In 2020, during the draconian COVID lockdowns in California (some of which are ongoing), Waters said, “I don’t want to see these establishments opened back up.”

“I don’t want to see these establishments opened back up… These small businesses that are in direct contact with people: nail shops, beauty shops, barbershops, flower shops, these are people in touch with folks every day, and they’re risking their lives. And we don’t want them opened up.”

I have a question: how is this crazy person still in Congress? I admit we have our fair share of crazies on Capitol Hill, but Waters really takes the cake. She’s openly enriching herself and her family, inciting violence against elected officials, and lobbying to destroy American small businesses.

I left California in part because Golden State voters consistently elect radical leftists, but Waters is just embarrassing.

It’s no wonder, as my dear friend the late Sen. Tom Coburn once told Congress, “America doesn’t trust you.”

I’m sad to say that Congress hasn’t gotten any more trustworthy since Sen. Coburn passed away. But that doesn’t mean the American people have given up.

Just last week, the Convention of States movement reached a historic milestone: with Nebraska passing the Convention of States Resolution, half of the required 34 states have called for a Convention of States.

An Article V Convention of States is the ultimate way to bypass the corrupt and crazy Congress. A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can dramatically shrink the federal budget, cut taxes, reduce federal power, and impose term limits on federal politicians.

These amendments will be a death sentence to the political career of Swamp Monsters like Maxine Waters and put We the People back in control of our country’s future.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
