Critical Race Theory is all the rage these days, and the largest teachers union in the country just approved a plan to promote critical race theory in all 50 states and 14,000 local school districts.
The union approved a resolution that, among other things, promised to develop a study to critique "empire, white supremacy, anti-Blackness, anti-Indigeneity, racism, patriarchy, cisheteropatriarchy, capitalism, ableism, [and] anthropocentrism."
It also agreed to publicly "convey its support" for Critical Race Theory, oppose restrictions in state legislatures, and use schools for political activism. The delegates pledged to "join with Black Lives Matter at School and the Zinn Education Project" to hold a "national day of action" on George Floyd’s birthday, recruiting teachers to hold political demonstrations and "teach lessons about structural racism and oppression."
As we learned during the COVID-induced school lockdowns, President Joe Biden and his administration are in lockstep with these powerful unions, and they've already taken steps to promote Critical Race Theory in the classrooms of our children.
There are many problems with Critical Race Theory, but the most serious is the simple fact that the theory and its underlying principles are nothing less than repackaged racism. As Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler explained in a recent segment of his show, The BattleCry, the fight over Critical Race Theory in our nation will determine whether we go back to a time when we judged people by the color of their skin.
If we don't do something, the federal government will move to impose this racist curriculum on our kids. It might not happen during the Biden administration, but it will happen as long as Washington has the power to dictate what our kids are and are not allowed to learn.
That's why we must call a Convention of States now, before it's too late. An Article V Convention of States can propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government. These amendments can put Washington back in its constitutional box, and restrict or eliminate dozens of unconstitutional federal agencies--including the Department of Education.
If some states and localities want to indoctrinate their kids with leftist ideology, they're free to do that. But Critical Race Theory should not be imposed on the entire country, and we can keep that from happening with a Convention of States.
