Convention of States President Mark Meckler appeared on the Schilling Show on Constitution Day this year to discuss how and why the U.S. Constitution is being disparaged -- both in public schools and in the public sphere.
"We've failed to teach [the Constitution]. [Public schools] are factories of hate against America. We don't teach the kids the Constitution or its history in any significant way, so they're not prepared to understand why it's the foundation for liberty," Mark said.
The Convention of States Project is the only nationwide grassroots movement working to use the Article V process to save the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution.
At a Convention of States, states can propose constitutional amendments that limit the power of the federal government, mandate term limits for federal officials, and impose fiscal restraints on Congress.
Rather than altering our system of government, as many activists in public schools seek to do, these amendments would restore our system of government to what the Founders originally intended. These amendments would shrink the jurisdiction of the federal government and return that power where it belongs: with the people and the states.
