It's never been more important for the states to step up and push back against the predations of the federal government.
That was the conclusion of a conversation between Ben Shapiro and Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler last week. As President Biden ramps up his rhetoric about gun control and vaccine passports, the states have a responsibility to stand up and say, "No!"
"The states should be stepping up boldly. They need to be saying, 'This is a line we won't allow you to cross,'" Mark said.
Coordination between liberty-loving states will be key to a successful campaign against federal overreach.
"I think if it's done on a broad scale, it's going to be difficult for the feds to enforce. They need to do it in coordination," Mark said.
In the short term, we must look to our governors and state legislatures to build a wall against federal overreach with executive orders and legislation.
In the long term, we must call an Article V Convention of States.
We the People must constantly fear federal overreach because the Supreme Court has granted constitutional powers to the federal government that our Founders never intended. We need constitutional amendments reversing those decisions and restoring the balance of power between the state and federal governments. Congress will never propose those amendments, but we can do it with an Article V Convention of States.
A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government in all areas. This power will transfer to the states, where everyday Americans have a much larger voice in government.
We don't want vaccine passports. We don't want gun control. We don't want illegal immigration. The federal government may not listen to us now, but they'll have no choice once the state propose amendments limiting their power at a Convention of States.
