Mark Meckler on Steve Deace Show: Polling shows Americans reject vaccine mandate

Published in Blog on July 21, 2021 by Article V Patriot

Should the government require you to take the COVID-19 vaccine?

According to a new poll from Convention of States Action and the Trafalgar Group, and answer is a resounding, NO.

Convention of States Action President Mark Meckler appeared on the Steve Deace show to announce the results of the poll, and the numbers have surprised even the most well-informed political observers.

A full 71.4% of Americans believe that taking the COVID-19 vaccine should be a "personal choice" rather than a "mandate." Only 21.8% believe it should be mandatory, and another 6.8% are unsure. That covers all Americans, not just Republicans.

"I was encouraged," Mark said of the results. "It shows that people still by and large, including Democrats, are people who think for themselves. They're not listening to the hundreds of millions of posts on social media pushed by Facebook and other tyrannical oligarchs. They trust their own judgement."

"People are still self-governing folks in the United States," he concluded.

Here are the breakdowns by party affiliation.

  • 71.4% of American voters believe taking the COVID vaccines should be a personal choice—87.3% of Republicans, 67.2% of Independents, and 58.7% of Democrats.
  • 21.8% of American voters believe taking the COVID vaccines should be mandatory—7.2% of Republicans, 26.5% of Independents, and 33% of Democrats.
  • 6.8% of American voters are unsure whether taking the COVID vaccine should be mandatory or a personal choice—5.5% of Republicans, 6.3% of Independents, and 8.4% of Democrats.

We hope that our politicians will take note of what the American people think about this issue. That's possible at the state level, but it's unlikely the U.S. Congress, President Biden, or the "deep state" will even notice--or care.

That's why we must call an Article V Convention of States. Our overlords in D.C. will use every future pandemic and "national emergency" to wield control over We the People. A Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments that limit the power, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government. These amendments can ensure that the federal government will never impose a nationwide vaccine mandate of any kind, and keep federal bureaucrats out of our most important healthcare decisions.

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
