Mark Meckler back in Wyoming

Published in Blog on May 31, 2024 by Matt May

Convention of States Action (COSA) president and co-founder Mark Meckler is heading back to Wyoming for two more events in the Equality State in June that will advance the conversation about "Courage vs. Status Quo: How the Wild West Can Save America."

Mark and Patriot Academy founder Rick Green embarked on a multi-state tour of the West in early May. Now Mark heads solo to Casper and Cody to again examine the constitutional framework of the United States and the West's role in contemporary politics, particularly how real political change can be initiated by grassroots activists who build effective relationships with state legislators.

“We look forward to hosting Mark Meckler in two more Wild West towns in Wyoming to discuss the importance of being courageous in these times of keeping the status quo,” said COSA regional director Deanna Becket.

The conversation about the first principles of self-governance, the Constitution, and an Article V convention resumes in The Equality State on June 10 at 6:30 p.m. when Mark visits the Cody Auditorium at the Cody Club in Cody, Wyoming. The Cody Club is located at 1240 Beck Avenue in Cody.

The following evening, June 11, Mark will appear at the Natrona County Agricultural and Resource Center, 2011 Fairgrounds Road in Casper at 6:30 p.m.

"Cody and Casper are two Wild West cities I don't normally get to visit," said Mark. "But in the true spirit of the west, there are no places that should be more supportive of throwing off the reins from D.C."

Register here to attend these free tour stops, which will feature in-depth information and strategies, lively interaction, and good fellowship.

"I'm looking forward to meeting all the great cowboy patriots there," Mark said of his return trip to Wyoming. "Let's ride! Anyone have a horse for me?"

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
