After only a few months of Joe Biden's presidency, Americans are already tried of federal overreach.
Last year, a majority of Americans (54%) said that the government should "do more" to solve our nation's problems. This year, in the latest Gallup poll, that number has dropped to 43%--an 11-point swing.
Meanwhile, a majority of Americans now believe the government "tries to do too many things," which aligns with the historic outlook of Americans surveyed.
There's even more bad news for Biden's agenda. This year also saw a sharp drop in the number of Americans who want higher taxes and more government services, two crucial components of Biden's "Build Back Better" agenda.
In 2019, 42% of Americans said they wanted lower taxes/fewer government services while 25% of Americans wanted higher taxes/more government services. This year, that gap is even wider: 50% of Americans prefer lower taxes/fewer government services while only 19% of Americans want higher taxes/more government services.
The last 10 months have proven to everyday Americans that federal involvement is never the solution to our problems. Without federal involvement, our economy would be booming in the post-COVID environment, jobs would be filled, and supply chains would be functioning.
But thanks to Biden's COVID and economic policies, our nation is sagging under the weight of higher prices, continued unemployment and joblessness, and a lack of basic necessities.
It's time to once again make our country of, by, and for the people. We don't need help from the federal government. We need the federal government to get out of our way, and a Convention of States can do just that.
An Article V Convention of States is called and controlled by the states and has the power to propose constitutional amendments. These amendments can reduce the size, scope, and jurisdiction of the federal government. In other words, amendments can reduce the number and power of federal agencies, restrict the topics on which Congress can legislative, and limit the power of the president to meddle in the economy.
If this sounds good, we encourage you to join the Convention of States team in your state! We're working in all 50 states to call the first-ever Convention of States, and you can be a part of this historic movement.
