Lifting Title 42 is Trusting the Science (of Politics)

Published in Blog on April 25, 2022 by Andrew Potts

The Biden administration is set to lift Title 42 on May 23rd. Title 42 was enacted under the Trump administration in March of 2020. Title 42 falls under the 1944 Public Health Service Act and gives federal authorities the ability to halt legal and illegal immigration into the U.S. to limit the spread of communicable diseases. "Why would now be a good time to lift Title 42?" you may ask. Good question. Let’s dig a little deeper.

The Biden administration is talking out of both sides of its mouth when it comes to the pandemic. On one hand, it is promoting a forever pandemic by appealing Federal District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle’s ruling striking down the mask mandate on federal transportation. On the other hand, the administration is implying the pandemic is over by the lifting of Title 42, which directly contradicts the ‘trust the science’ battle cry.

It starts to become clear when you understand the ‘science’ they are talking about is the Science of Politics. The open southern border to the U.S. for illegal immigration is big business for both sides of the border – caught in the middle are the trafficked migrants and the working class citizens of the U.S. This is not a battle of ‘Us vs. Them’, it is a battle of wages.

When the previous administration took a hard stance against the inflow of trafficked migrants on the southern border, the unemployment rate for all minorities in this country set all-time record lows. Wages were rising, and the U.S. economy hit record highs. Patriotic Americans were thrilled and there was a feeling throughout this country that the younger generation could expect to do as well as their parents if not better.

Big business does not take a similar view as patriotic Americans. So, through lobbying they dropped a war chest of money for politicians to champion their big business goal: cheap labor fueled by the trafficked migrants funneling through an open U.S. southern border.

This brings me to what Convention of States Action (COSA) is doing for our country. One of the goals for COSA is proposing term limits for Washington, D.C., politicians so that they cannot amass a war chest of money and remain in power over generations by serving big business interests rather than the interests of the American people.

The choice is yours: Trust an Article V Convention of States to rein in an out of control political establishment in Washington, D.C. or a grassroots organization working within the powers of the U.S. Constitution to reject the tyranny coming from the Swamp. You can be assured that by signing the Convention of States petition, you are trusting your fellow Americans and the Constitution over their warped science of politics.

Petition your state legislator

Almost everyone knows that our federal government is on a dangerous course. The unsustainable debt combined with crushing regulations on states and businesses is a recipe for disaster.

What is less known is that the Founders gave state legislatures the power to act as a final check on abuses of power by Washington, DC. Article V of the U.S. Constitution authorizes the state legislatures to call a convention to proposing needed amendments to the Constitution. This process does not require the consent of the federal government in Washington DC.

I support Convention of States; a national movement to call a convention under Article V of the United States Constitution, restricted to proposing amendments that will impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit its power and jurisdiction, and impose term limits on its officials and members of Congress.

I want our state to be one of the necessary 34 states to pass a resolution calling for this kind of an Article V convention. You can find a copy of the model resolution and the Article V Pocket Guide (which explains the process and answers many questions) here: https://conventionofstates.com/handbook_pdf

I ask that you support Convention of States and consider becoming a co-sponsor. Please respond to my request by informing the national COS team of your position, or sending them any questions you may have:
