Kansas state senator Mark Steffen is worried about his country. He sees how career politicians in Washington spend recklessly, and he sees that something must be done to address this internal sickness.
"Our federal government has a sickness inside of it. That's the career politicians and unlimited spending that is literally killing us day by day by day," he told a House legislative committee considering the Convention of States Resolution.
Fortunately, the Founders gave us a solution. They included in Article V of the Constitution a way to heal what ails our nation, and Sen. Steffen called on his colleagues to do their duty.
"It's hard to stand up and do the right thing. But as I get those battle scars, my heart soars to pursue the truth and what's right and try to save the greatest nation in this history of mankind. It's a noble cause, and this Resolution has the opportunity to do that," he said.
